Despite its compact dimensions, the Model 180 is built without compromise. Optimized cylinder and linkage geometry provide a total cutting force of 65 tons. In real-world applications, it can easily cut through steel shells up to approximately 15mm (0.6 inches) thick, light H-beams, and car frames – dramatically improving productivity in scrap yards and demolition sites.
Materials & Manufacturing: One-Piece Machining from 60mm & 100mm Wear-Resistant Plates
Wear resistance and structural rigidity determine the service life of a hydraulic shear. The Model 180 uses premium materials on all main load-bearing components:
Blade holder (jaw plate): One-piece machined from 60mm thick wear-resistant steel plate, ensuring excellent rigidity and minimal deformation under load.
Shear arm (moving/ fixed jaw arms): Made from 100mm thick wear-resistant steel plate, also one-piece machined. This effectively resists lateral bending forces during cutting, maintaining structural stability even when cutting high-strength materials.
All critical components are machined from solid plates – no welded assemblies – eliminating stress concentrations and weld fatigue.
Geometric Parameters: 400mm Opening, 350mm Depth
The Model 180 offers a maximum jaw opening of 400mm (15.75 inches), capable of gripping common scrap steel, pipes, and small sections. The 350mm (13.8 inches) throat depth allows deeper penetration into the material, reducing the need for multiple cuts and increasing effective cutting length per cycle.
Structural Innovation: Gear Synchronization – Eliminating Blade Misalignment
One of the most common failure modes in compact hydraulic shears is blade misalignment (asymmetric wear or “twisting”), which leads to uneven blade gap, jamming, and even blade chipping. Despite its small size, the Model 180 adopts a precision gear synchronization mechanism (gear-type rotary synchronizer), ensuring perfectly synchronized movement of both jaws throughout the closing cycle. The fit is far superior to conventional linkage or pin-guided designs.
